Near Infrared Channel - 3.9 microns

  • There are many applications of the 3.9 micron channel when combined with the others.  
  • The fundamental difference between this channel and the others is that at 3.9 microns, both reflected solar and emitted long wave radiation are detected.
  • There are three properties which make the 3.9 micron channel unique and quite useful:
    • emissivity differences
    • reflective differences
    • subpixal effects
