Slackware Packages

I have compiled and made the following Slackware packages available for convenience. I make no guarantee about their performance or security. It is possible that installation, use or uninstallation could permanently and irreversably destroy your computer, erase all your data, burn your toast and report your mp3 collection to the RIAA. You have been warned. Personally, I've had no problems with these packages I've compiled on my systems. They fully pass the "It works for me" test.

Each packages was built from the unmodified source code found at various locations on the internet - generally at the listed home page.

License information for each package can generally be found in the documentation located in the install directory under /usr/doc/<application_name>.

Once installed, USB hotplug will need to be updated (for usb cameras) with the following steps:
  1. /usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-usb-usermap >> /etc/hotplug/usb/usb.usermap
  2. cp /usr/doc/libgphoto2/linux-hotplug/usbcam.group /etc/hotplug/usb/usbcam
  3. edit usbcam to specify what group is allowed access to the device.

The database included is the USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 16, which contains 6,661 foods and 125 nutrients. This database contains values for vitamins, minerals, fats, calories, protein, carbohydrates, fiber, etc., and includes the essential polyunsaturated fats, Omega-3 and Omega-6. Nutrient levels are expressed as a percentage of the Daily Value, the familiar standard of food labeling in the United States, but also can be fully customized. Recipes can be added, and graphs drawn. The program is completely menu-driven and there are no commands to learn.
