If it wasn't for snow, I wouldn't have chosen a career in meteorology. Snow has always
fascinated me and inspired my creativity. I used to wakeup at 6AM on snow days in
Wanaque, New Jersey (average annual snowfall around 30") to shovel and play in the
snow. My passion for snow was so intense that I'd gather neighborhood snow piles to
build snow forts or I'd use the snow to have the longest sledding season.

I am now happily living in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont (average annual snowfall
around 100"), where the snow continues to bring endless joy and fascination. This was
reinforced with my favorite snow storm, the infamous Valentine's Day Storm (Feb 14, 2007),
which was the biggest snow storm near and around Lyndon State College since March 14, 1984.
When I'm not teaching about weather and snow storms, I'm enjoying the snow by Nordic skiing,
snowshoeing, sledding, and in the future skijoring.
