I grew up in southern Michigan and came to Lyndon in 2006 to study broadcast meteorology, earning my
degree in December 2009. Though not classified as an interior New England storm, the snowstorm that
left the biggest impression on me was the midwestern Blizzard of '78. The storm provided seven straight
days off from school. During that time we could ski and even ice skate in the street. The National Guard
sent in plow trucks with big, v-shaped blades mounted on the front. The center lines of roads were buried
under 15-foot piles of snow. My goals for this research project have been to plot the surface low
positions for each storm and enhance the graphics and navigation of the website.
