LSC Northeast Kingdom Forecast Student Meteorologist: Steve Breault Forecast Posted on Friday Oct 23, 2009 04:55 ** The latest forecast for Northeastern Vermont ** ** including Caledonia, Orleans, and Essex Counties ** Forecast Discussion: The cold front that has passed last evening is now down off the southern New England coast. Weak high pressure is building in from southern Canada. We will observe this fair weather cell to continue to build eastward throughout the morning, and by this evening it will be moving east of New England. At the same time, high cloudiness from an advancing storm system is already beginning to move into the region. This storm system is going to continue to approach New England throughout the day. The storm moving towards us has actually absorbed former Hurricane Rick that was in the Pacific Ocean earlier this week! By Saturday, we will be experiencing the rain associated with this storm system. The current thinking is that we will have a period of heavy rainfall Saturday morning, associated with warm air trying to move up into the Kingdom from the south. We should then see a general steady light rain throughout the day. Towards evening, another heavy batch will move into the region in response to the cold front. Expect rainfall amounts to be at least 1 2 inches, with locally higher amounts possible by late Saturday night. Fair weather will begin to return Sunday along with pleasant autumn temperatures.
