LSC Northeast Kingdom Forecast Student Meteorologist: Steve Breualt Forecast Posted on Friday Oct 9, 2009 15:33 ** The latest forecast for Northeastern Vermont ** ** including Caledonia, Orleans, and Essex Counties ** Forecast Discussion: A fairly active weather pattern will continue through the weekend across the Northeast Kingdom. This afternoon we are watching a storm system move northeast out of the Ohio Valley. As it advances closer to New England, we will see the chance of showers increase throughout the day. By tonight the showers will turn to a steady, light rain. The cold front attached to the storm will pass through the area during the morning hours of Saturday. With cooler air moving into the region Saturday, it will be tough to shake the clouds. By evening, the skies will gradually become clearer, and by Sunday morning expect widespread sub-freezing temperatures across the Kingdom. Another disturbance approaches the region during the day Sunday, with generally cloudy skies remaining the theme to close out the weekend. Next week appears to begin generally tranquil as high pressure crests over the region. Temperatures will be cooler than average though, as we quickly begin to transition into mid-autumn. Friday Night (Oct 09, 2009) Light rain totalling between 0.10" 0.25". Calm wind. Lows in the mid to upper 40s. High: F Low: 44-49F Saturday Afternoon (Oct 10, 2009) Cloudy in the morning, with a few breaks of sunshine possible through the afternoon. The trend throughout the day should be a brightening of the sky. Slight chance of a shower. NW winds around 10 mph, gusting at times to as high as 20 mph. Highs in the lower 50s. High: 49-54F Low: F Sunday Night (Oct 10, 2009) Becomming mostly clear. Light west winds. Temperatures just about everywhere should fall below freezing during the nighttime hours, with region wide temperatures averaging in the upper 20s. High: F Low: 27-32F Sunday Afternoon (Oct 11, 2009) Generally cloudy with a slight chance of showers as another disturbance approaches from the west. West wind 10-15 mph. Temperatures in the upper 40s. High: 45-50F Low: F Monday (Oct 12, 2009) Mostly clear during the day with increasing cloudiness towards evening. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s to near 50.
