** The latest forecast for Northeastern Vermont **
** including Caledonia, Orleans, and Essex Counties **

Forecast Discussion:
Low pressure that has been slow to move across the center of the nation the
past several days is now zipping east just over the Canadian border this
afternoon. This storm system is responsible for the rain we saw this morning,
and as the afternoon progresses we only run the chance of scattered showers,
despite mainly cloudy skies. Through tonight, moisture in the low levels will
be tough to scour out so we should continue with mostly cloudy skies. High
pressure begins to build in from the Ohio Valley Saturday and this should help
to break up the clouds through the afternoon. Sunday will feature more sunshine
as high pressure crests over the region. Throughout the weekend, the jet stream
will split in the center of the country with the northern branch extending from
the Plains and turning sharply northeast to the west of Hudson Bay. This will
keep the cold air bottled up across northern and western Canada while keeping
above normal temperatures across the eastern third of the country.


Friday Afternoon (Nov 20, 2009)
Cloudy with a few rays of sun possible at times. High near 50. Light west wind
under 5 mph.

High: 46-51F  Low: F 

Friday Night (Nov 20, 2009)
Remaining mostly cloudy. Patchy fog may develop in the valleys since it will be
tough to get rid of the moisture trapped in the low levels. Mild, with lows
around 40. Light west wind around 5 mph.

High: F  Low: 35-40F 

Saturday Afternoon (Nov 21, 2009)
Mostly cloudy. Temperatures remaining nearly the same as Friday with highs near
50 and calm winds.

High: 46-51F  Low: F 

Saturday Night (Nov 21, 2009)
Partly cloudy and cooler with lows by dawn in the upper 20s to near 30. Winds
will remain calm.

High: F  Low: 25-30F 

Sunday Afternoon (Nov 22, 2009)
Sunny. Highs will be a tad cooler but still above normal with afternoon
temperatures generally in the mid 40s. Winds will remain calm.

High: 43-48F  Low: F
