Forecast Discussion: Our first major snowstorm is continuing to produce winter like conditions all throughout the Northeast Kingdom for Monday night and into Tuesday morning. Currently, an area of low pressure located over the Saint Lawrence Valley will weaken overnight as another low pressure system located east of Cape Cod continues to strengthen and allow for more snow to fall throughout our region. For Monday night, expect periods of snow showers and below average temperatures with lows ranging in the mid teens to lower 20s. Additional snowfall accumulations of 3 to 5 inches with higher amounts in the higher elevations expected. On Tuesday, we should see the storm system begin to move north and eastward away from our region and allow for lingering snow showers throughout the day. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow with higher amounts in the higher elevations. Total snowfall accumulations of 8 to 14 inches with even higher amounts in the higher elevations. Make sure if you have to venture out on the roads be sure to allow yourself plenty of extra time to reach your destination safely.
