Watches, Warnings and Advisories !!! ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BURLINGTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT FOR THE POTENTIAL OF 6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW...WITH OVER A FOOT POSSIBLE FOR THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN AND CENTRAL VERMONT. SNOW WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE NORTH COUNTRY LATE SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY EVENING...BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS LATE MONDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW COULD MIX WITH SLEET LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING ACROSS NORTHERN NEW YORK...AS WELL AS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN VERMONT. THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR 6 OR MORE INCHES OF SNOW ACROSS THIS REGION...WITH UP TO A FOOT OR MORE FOR THE WESTERN SLOPES OF THE GREEN MOUNTAINS IN CENTRAL AND NORTHERN VERMONT BY LATE MONDAY NIGHT. Forecast Discussion: Winter will be making itself known to the North Country in full force late this weekend. Along with the coldest temperatures of the season, a large storm system is gearing up to push into the region for the end of the weekend. A few snow squalls dropped a couple scattered inches around the region last night, however, Sunday night will see at least upwards of 6 inches with the entrance of a major winter storm system. In response the National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Winter Storm Watch, effective from Sunday night through Monday night. Cold air funneling in from Canada will allow many locations in our area to drop below zero overnight. Sunday night skies will begin to flurry and eventually move into a moderate snow, lasting into late Monday morning. Snow totals will be as much as a foot in the higher elevation and upslope locations, while the valley locations may see 6 to 10 inches of snow. Driving conditions Monday morning will be adverse so please use caution while commuting. Saturday Night (Dec 01, 2007) Party Cloudy.
