Posted Monday Feb 8, 2010 12:53 The latest forecast for Northeast Vermont including Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties. The trend of scattered snowfall looks to continue for at least the next 24 hours, as a low pressure system off the Canadian Maritime continues to stall and spin in place. Light snow accumulations are again expected through the rest of the day with any of these events, so take extra caution if you need to travel through the rest of the day today and into the evening hours. As Tuesday arrives, a shortwave ridge of high pressure builds in and gives the region a temporary break from the snowfall. This ridge appears to be weak, however, and it will be pushed off the Atlantic coastline overnight as another potent Mid-Atlantic winter storm advances through that region into the morning on Wednesday. The models are keeping the brunt of this large low pressure system to our south, so any snowfall we may see from this storm will be on the lighter end of the spectrum.
