The Lyndon State College Student Chapter
of the American Meteorological Society (AMS)
and National Weather Association (NWA) is one
of the largest and most active clubs on campus. Year after year, club members organize and participate
in activities that benefit the College, the community,
and the Atmospheric Sciences. Since being established
in 1971, the club has been honored many times
for these contributions.
The highest profile
event sponsored by the club is the annual Northeastern
Storm Conference. This is the largest and
longest running student-run conference in the
nation and draws over 300 students and professionals
from around the country to share their knowledge
and experience for the greater good of the science.
Previous banquet speakers include Louis Ucellini,
Paul Kocin, Howard Bluestein, Jack Williams,
Robert Sheets, Chuck Doswell, Jim Cantore, Josh
Wurman, Greg Holland, and Roger Wakimoto.
number of alumni attend this event on an annual
basis to reconnect with friends, colleagues,
and the Department. Prospective students
considering Lyndon are also encouraged to attend
the conference to learn more about our field.
It is also a great opportunity to meet our students,
faculty, and alumni.
