Curriculum

Our curriculum constantly evolves to ensure our graduates are well-prepared for their future career in Atmospheric Sciences. It is flexible and can be completed in three, four, or five years depending on the student's preparation. We also offer a program for students who need additional preparation in the areas of math and physics.

We believe that our undergraduate curriculum is competitive with any other program in the country. It reflects the input from a large number of professionals in our field and exceeds the guidelines put forth by the American Meteorological Society.

The following testimonial is from Matt Clegg, class of 2009 who is now a graduate student at the University of North Dakota:

“...Today's professor was discussing his work in remote sensing research and was showing us a reflectivity image from a W-band cloud radar with an obvious bright band in it. He asked us first what it was and secondly what was causing it. None of the other six new master's [degree] students were able to accurately say why it was occurring. ... I find it very interesting to see what students know and don't know that come from other universities. ... Overall I think we have a very good thing going on at Lyndon.”
