Advances in weather and climate are showing that these two disciplines are intimately related to many other fields of science. For example, winds in the atmosphere may transport air pollution from an urban to a rural area that, in turn, may affect crop production. Students completing this new track will be capable of examining environmental problems, either in a research environment, government lab, or in the private sector as part of an interdisciplinary team.
