Professional Interests and Activities:
Jim Roemer, a 1981 alumni, has 25 years
experience as a research analyst,
Commodity Trading Adviser, and weather
forecaster for major grain, energy
companies, and hedge funds. He analyzes
the global economic impacts weather has
on various industries, and looks at
technical analysis and psychology in
formulating important short and longer
term trading decisions. Mr. Roemer
currently advises a $5.0 billion
commodity fund with an average return of
more than 20% over the last 15 years, is
considering developing a weather related
fund as he has access to some of the
nation's top traders, and has developed
a successful niche in the grain, energy
and weather derivatives markets. He
teaches an ATM course in “Micro-scale
Snow Forecasting for Ski Slopes” and
acts as a content advisor on forecasting
for ATM students who work on VIAM
projects for his various weather-related
endeavors. Jim also serves as an
advisor and Associate Member of ATM’s
VIAM Board and serves on the Lyndon
Board of Visitors.
