Professional Interests and Activities:
Since 2004, Jim has returned to his alma
matter (Lyndon Class of 1986) to teach an intensive class on
television weathercasting. During this special class, current
broadcasting-concentration seniors get a unique perspective on the
business, and intensive one-on-one work with Jim.
Perhaps no one person is more suited to instruct such a class. Jim has
been an on-camera meteorologist at The Weather Channel for over 20
years, where his uniquely passionate style have helped him become one
of the most recognized national weather personalities. Jim is
passionate about education, whether he's explaining the significance
of a dry slot on water vapor imagery, or describing the real-time
impacts of severe tropical weather.
Jim enjoys a fine powder ski day in the Western United States. He may
be seen tending his fine collection of Japanese Maple trees.
