Geostationary Satellites - Areas of
Coverage - GOES East
- GOES-E is one of the two
GOES satellites currently maintained by the US. It is
currently GOES - 8.
- It is positioned at 75° W
longitude.
- The satellite was launched on 13
April 1994 and became operational on 1 June,
1995.
- The viewing area for GOES-E is
shown to the right. Note that all
Geostationary satellites are positioned over the
equator (0° latitude).
