Level II Data

The radar provides three basic measurements (called level II data).  They are:

  1. base reflectivity

  2. radial velocity

  3. spectral width

and now with the dual pol upgrade:

copolar cross correlation coefficient

differential reflectivity

differential phase

The data resolutions are changing: see recent article by Brown et al.

Doppler Moment Spatial Resolution Data Resolution
Reflectivity 0.5° by 0.25km 0.5 dBZe
Radial velocity 0.5° by 0.25 km 0.5 m/s
Spectrum Width 0.5° by 0.25 km 0.5 m/s
