LAB #3 - ZDR

1.  Open the data set in /mnt/arch/cases/24jul91

2.  A series of RHIs were performed from 2107:07 - 2107:50 UTC on a cell 60-85 km from the radar.

• Zoom in on this cell.
• Plot a three-panel display showing the reflectivity (DZ), radial velocity (VT), and ZDR (ZD).
• Peruse through the RHIs to get a feel of the storm structure.

3. After choosing one or two of the RHIs, circle and label regions in the data where you think:

• large rain drops
• small rain drops
• hail
• ice

are located.  Make sure all precipitation echo is circled as one of the four types above.

4. Are ZDR values in the boundary layer large or small? Explain your answer.

Your answers should contain text and annotated graphics. Place your answers in a web page called lab3.html.
