LAB #2 - SECOND TRIP AND GROUND CLUTTER IDENTIFICATION
1. Open the data set in /mnt/arch/cases/02aug91
2. Plot the radar reflectivity and Doppler velocity data at 21:37:16 and 22:45:02 UTC. Choose appropriate magnification and color scales to allow for easier identification of second trip and ground clutter echoes. Save these images and place them in a web page called "lab2.html".
3. On your saved images, use a black line to circle the areas of second trip echoes. Use a purple line to circle the areas of ground clutter.
4. Now, plot the data at 23:01:48 UTC. Zoom in on the data between 20-50 km at azimuths between 300-360 degrees. After you have saved this image and placed it in your web page, circle the data that you believe is ground clutter contamination within the aforementioned sector.
5. Use the IDV to load the data at UTC and export an image in .kmz format that shows well the ground clutter in the sector above and along the coastline. After loading the image into Google Earth, identify what is creating the ground clutter in your radar data. At a minimum, explain the ground clutter feature in the above sector and along the coast. Save example images and place them in your web page.
