Course Projects
Although this class requires a lot of time and hard work, most students are very, very
proud of their final projects.
Paper
Students will write a paper containing a main body of at least 25 pages.
Students will choose one of two different types of papers:
- summaries of everything that is known about a topic. They require:
- extensive library search for raw information
- in-depth study for understanding
- a comprehensive report for synthesis
- analysis of new data or case studies. They require:
- that students have previously collected and analyzed their
data in MET 490, Independent Study, for at least two credits,
and received a grade of C- or higher from any LSC meteorology faculty
(because there is not enough time now to collect and analyze this data,
and complete the other requirements of this course)
- application of known methods and relationships to new data
- interpretation and comparison of results with everything
that is known about the topic
Papers are due near the end of MET482. They will be evaluated for:
- content
- format
- style
- English
Scientific Presentation
Students will give an oral presentation of 30 minutes based on their paper.
Presentations will occur near the end of MET482.
