Geostationary Satellites - GOES E

  • Geostationary satellites are positioned over the equator

  • they orbit the earth at the same rate as the earths rotation

  • this allows for a continuous view of the same location

  • The U.S. has two geostationary satellites:

      • located at 0°N, 75°W
