What is the Northeastern Storm Conference?

The annual Northeastern Storm Conference is sponsored entirely by the LSC-AMS & NWA.  This is the largest student-run conference in the nation and a very informative and beneficial experience for professionals and students alike.  Attendance at this meeting has eclipsed 300 in recent years, and includes individuals from all sectors of meteorology as well as high school, graduate and especially undergraduate students.  Though the New England region is often the area of study in our presentations, topics have frequently extended outside the realm of the Northeastern United States. Some popular subjects discussed include winter weather, severe and tropical meteorology, numerical weather prediction, and historical weather events.

The Northeastern Storm Conference is an ideal opportunity for undergraduates.  It provides an ideal setting for students who wish to begin making connections within the field, investigate potential career paths, and learn about the broad spectrum of topics in meteorology and related fields.  The conference also exposes both students and professionals alike to cutting edge research ongoing in various meteorological fields.

The conference commences on Friday evening with an icebreaker and social receptions.  Presentations begin on Saturday morning, culminating to a banquet and the banquet speaker in the evening.  Additional talks are given Sunday morning, with the conference ending around noon.  Breakfast and coffee breaks are served throughout the meeting, with a special reception for Lyndon State College alumni taking place Saturday evening.
