NWA Chapter of the Year!!
The Lyndon State College Student Chapter of the AMS and NWA has won the National Weather Association Student Chapter of the Year award for 2008-2009. The awards "is presented to a Local Chapter of the NWA whose activities have significantly increased awareness of the weather and of the NWA in their local area." Daniel McCarthy, chairperson of the NWA Awards Committee, says that the award "is a recognition of the hard work and dedication" of the club members to better the Department, the College community, and the science in general. This award has been in existence since 1999, and thsi is the first time LSC has won it. Club President Tony McGee and Community Outreach Officer Rachel Ducharme will be traveling to the NWA Annual Meeting in Norfolk, Virginia on October 21st to accept the award.
